University Dance Laboratory
University Dance Laboratory FAC 122
Located in the middle of the ASU's Nelson Fine Arts Center, accessible from both 10th Street and Gammage Parkway, the University Dance Laboratory is the second major studio within Herberger Institute School of Dance. Complemented by the striking architecture of the surrounding complex, this flexible space is an ideal setting for creative and experimental dance.
Seating
Seating in the studio can be arranged in any configuration to meet the needs of the performance - up to 200 seats on the floor and 100 seats in the two balcony areas.
Floor
5400 square feet of "sprung" hardwood flooring covered by a Marley surface, laid in a basket-weave pattern on a base supported by resilient cushions and air, providing give and spring necessary to prevent leg injury and to assist in dancers' lifts and jumps. An experimental tung oil finish penetrates to seal the wood against moisture and drying while allowing dancers to work on an uncoated wood finish.
