- Dance history
- Choreography
- Music for dance
- Dance production
- Dance kinesiology and anatomy
- Choreographic work produced publicly
- Performing experience
- Improvisation
In order to meet proficiency requirements, a student may be asked to do the following:
- Provide catalog description of previous course work
- Take a proficiency examination
- Present evidence of acceptable practical experience in all areas of dance production
- Present videotapes, newspaper reviews, photographs, and/or printed programs of dance works given in public performances as evidence of previous experience in the area of contemporary dance choreography
If a deficiency occurs, the student may be required to take remedial course work and/or work with a faculty mentor to construct knowledge in the deficient area before beginning the graduate dance curriculum.
