Simon Dove, Director, Dance

Simon Dove is the chair of ASU Herberger College Dance. He co-curated the second annual French Institute Alliance Française's (FIAF) Fall Festival 2008, Crossing the Line in New York City. The contemporary dance festival runs Sept. 16 - Oct. 5.
According to the FIAF Web site, Crossing the Line is described as: "Three weeks of inter-disciplinary contemporary works by artists who are transforming cultural practices on both sides of the Atlantic." A feature about the festival also was published in The New York Times Sept. 16.
Dove is the former director of the Springdance festival in the Netherlands and joined the Herberger College of the Arts in August, 2007.

Simon Dove, dance chair, has been invited to be the sole convener/moderator at prestigious international summit convened by the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival. The summit initiates dialogue among the most influential presenting arts organizations in Europe and the U.S. to develop a greater degree of understanding of the issues faced by the organizations in perpetuating contemporary work and a shared vision for the future. Dove was chosen to meet with the heads of organizations such as the Spoleto Festival, Szene Salzburg and the Noorderzon Festival because of his extraordinary contribution to international contemporary dance as artistic/general director of Springdance in Utrecht, Netherlands. The summit takes place Sept. 7-8, during the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival.
