Who
ASU Herberger College Dance

What
The Dance Annual exposes the diverse creative practices supported at Herberger College Dance. Concerts are held May 1–3, at the Paul V. Galvin Playhouse on the ASU Tempe campus.

The concerts highlight the 2008–09 season with the most captivating work created throughout the year in coordination with new works that challenge audience interaction, community engagement and the virtual world. This collection features the work of faculty, graduate and undergraduate students and visiting artists on a variety of platforms.

Visiting artist Elizabeth Johnson, of the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, facilitates community partnerships with students in coordination with School of Sustainability at Arizona State University and notably challenges, “Who gets to dance and where does the dance take place?” Johnson’s work opens the event outside on the Nelson Fine Arts plaza.

Another visiting artist and native of Johannesburg, Moya Michael of Brussels Belgium, creates new work with students to be presented in The Dance Annual. This prestigious opportunity develops selected students’ professional skills in performance, engaging in the creative process of an international artist, choreographer and performer.

The Dance Annual is a stunning climax to a year of intense exploration, innovation and creativity, featuring performance, media-based work, exhibitions and more.
