Office for Global Dance Research and Creative Partnerships
Office for Global Dance Research and Creative Partnerships the School of Dance in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts provides a framework within which all School of Dance research activities reside and interconnect. Office for Global Dance Research and Creative Partnerships strives to become self-sustaining through grants and other external funding. Major endowments have facilitated the move of the internationally recognized organization, Cross-Cultural Dance Resources to the school, first by establishing their business office and later to support the relocation and maintenance of the Cross-Cultural Dance Resources Library, which is house in the School of Dance facilities.
The research space fulfills several key objectives for School of Dance in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Built around a national dance ethnographic library the space will make possible: the initiation and dissemination of research into dance practices around the world; house creation and research residencies by key practitioners from around the world; commissioning of new work that examines cultural pluralism in the twenty first century; nurturing and fostering of extensive links to both new and indigenous communities in and around the Phoenix metropolis; and development of both digital and telematic learning resources for national and international application. Critically, this facility significantly supports and is integrally connected to all dance curricula offered at Arizona State University.
