Transferring

Transfer from another University or College
Students transferring courses from another institution to ASU must have their credits evaluated for equivalency to ASU General Studies courses. An official evaluation must be completed within the first semester of enrollment. Students transferring courses will have their transfer credits evaluated by a Herberger College of the Arts Academic Advisor, call 480-965-4495.  For some in-state and out-of-state evaluations, course descriptions from the catalog of the previous institution may be required from the student.

Transfer Students, Dance Minors and Bachelor of Integrated Studies: Transfers, Minors, and BIS students must successfully complete the admittance audition to enroll in dance major courses. Additionally, transfer students who have completed music theory for dance, dance production or choreography courses at other institutions must also take placement examinations in these areas. These examinations are offered during the August and January orientation periods.

Transfer from a Community College
A maximum of 64 semester hours will be accepted as lower-division credit when transferred from community, junior or two-year colleges. Students transferring courses from the Maricopa Community College District will have their course evaluations completed by the Academic Advisor of the Dance Department. An examination of course outlines from transferred courses or testing may be necessary to complete the evaluation. Students attending Arizona State University and a community college concurrently are strongly urged to secure careful advisement to be sure that all courses taken at the community college will be accepted by ASU.

Drop/Add
In the ASU Schedule of Classes, there is a calendar of events that specifies deadlines for adding and dropping courses. The Department of Dance holds to that schedule. Requests for late dropping and adding must be approved by the College of the Arts Student Services office.

Course Loads and Overrides
The minimum full-time course load for undergraduates is 12 semester hours. The maximum course load is 18 semester hours. Students wishing to register for more than 18 hours must petition for approval before registering. Overload petitions are available in the advising office Dixie Gammage 116.
